Christmas Ideas for Children

Not having any children of my own, I find buying for the children in my family an impossible task!

I have a few nephews and nieces in my family, all under the age of 10. When it comes to any occasion, they expect the latest gadget, some all singing, all dancing toy or the latest in celebrity memorabilia. The problem is that I have no idea what each of them likes best. Call me a bad aunt, but I just can’t keep up with the latest trends and fashions.

If it was really down to me I would send them all some vouchers in a card and that would be the end of it. However I my family present and gifts are remembered, all mean something so vouchers would just not be suitable.

Last year I was looking online for inspiration and stumbled across this great website. It has everything you could need for Christmas Gift Ideas. Honestly, it was like my saviour. It took away all the worry of Christmas and what to get my nieces and nephews. They all got some amazing gifts and were happy with what they brought. The website is re-launching for 2008 and it makes me actually looking forward to my Christmas Shopping this year!

Managed Teleconferences

Teleconferencing is a process of virtual communication. In terms of the equipment used to establish a connection it can be of different kinds: audio-, video- or web-conferencing. Besides, teleconferences can be divided into managed and reservationless ones in terms of a third-party assistance. Reservationless teleconferences are made on-the-fly, while managed teleconferences are conducted with the operator’s assistance and should be pre-booked.

Managed teleconferences It is when a company plans to hold a high-profile and more complicated teleconference with a large number of participants that it resorts to operator-assisted services. Providers usually have a team of professionals, who are ready to help you organise the conference and customise it to suit your needs. You should contact the provider beforehand to decide on the best format for your conference, which depends on the number of participants, the number of languages used, etc.

The provider gives you a dial-in number, which you send out to the invitees. You also inform the prospective attendees about the date and the time of the conference. Or you can submit a list of participants to the operator with specified timing, and the latter will do that piece of work for you. Usually, no registration fee, local area or access codes are required. Everybody just dials the dial-in number on the exact time of the conference and enters it. Or you can dial the invitees out. It’s useful to ask attendees to identify themselves, when they join in.

You can create a participant access code for the invitees to gain entry to your private teleconference and eliminate the possibility of unwanted intrusion.

Some operators of managed conferences offer 3 types of conferences, including standard operator-assisted, event operator-assisted and auto-event ones. Standard operator-assisted is designed to accommodate up to 50 lines. Event conference is aimed at connecting over 50 lines. Support staff provides pre-call planning and advice, proactive monitoring of the conference, follow-up and assessment. Auto-event conferences are similar to the event-managed with addition of a PIN code sent to each participant. At the designated time, a participant dials in and is put through to the conference without any need to talk with the operator.

After everybody is in place, you can give the conference any direction you like. Among the most popular methods to employ are Yes/No polling, sub-conferencing, etc.

You can also negotiate a recording (CD or a transcript) of the teleconference for later review (can be especially useful for those who missed the event).

What is good about managed conferencing is that you don’t have to purchase expensive network, equipment and hire support staff. There are differences in payment schemes. Some charge per minute (British VideoCentric charges 12p per minute of audio-conferencing and 25p per minute of video-conferencing), or per minute per participant, while others offering high-usage customers a comprehensive hassle-free plans go for a monthly fee.

Managed conferences are a wise and easy choice, as they take off a load of concerns from you and offer professional handling of the event. Let them entertain you.

Foot Care: Relieving Tired and Swollen Feet

High heels, a lot of walking, all night dancing – it all shows on your feet! Here are some useful tips that will help you to relieve tired and swollen feet in no time:

Rest your feet above your head for 10 minutes: do this by lying at right angles to a wall, or on the bed with your feet up on the headboard, or on the floor with your feet resting on the edge of a chair. Any swelling will disappear as trapped fluids travel back your legs towards your heart.

Plunge your feet into a tub of cold water or sit on the side of the bath with your feet under the cold tap; then put them up for a while.

Roll your feet over a couple of chilled cans of drink straight from the fridge.

Spritz them with a cooling foot spray, you can buy minty ones in most chemists-keep them in the fridge in hot weather.

Here’s another great recepie to help your tired feet:

“Tired feet remedy soak”

You need to pour a cup of milk and half a cup of lemon juice in a blender and mix well. Transfer the soak in a large basin and put your feet in. Rest for about 15 minutes, take your feet out and dry properly. Apply a generous amount of any hydrating cream and put on a pair of warm cotton socks.

What Happened to the Inland Empire Music Scene

It used to be several years ago, when gas prices were under a dollar and record temperatures were limited to only a couple days out of the year, that the music scene in the Inland Empire was thriving. It’s true that it never got the media or MTV attention that it should have, but there was once a real scene in cities like Riverside and Corona. And now there seems to be nothing left of this scene. It only took about ten years to wipe away all the fun bands and great venues that the Inland Empire once had. What a shame.

The most significant of these venues that have been turned into something else or discarded entirely is the Barn, at UC Riverside. This is where many bands on the verge of music video star status played and started out their tours. You could see almost any show for $5 and most of them were good. Sure the place itself was not the most fire safe building in the area, but it fit the shows well. You could find the singer from Reel Big Fish wandering around or member of the Voo Doo Glow Skulls taking to other band members. No Doubt played there and Blink 182 played as well. As did many great bands both well known and virtually unknown.

It’s sad that places like the Barn and the San Bernardino arena are gone and that the music scene in the Inland Empire has been reduced to a few hippy bands playing their songs in local coffee shops. We need great Inland Empire web design to develop a website that lists these forgotten places and make it so people like me can upload photos of some of the great shows that no longer take place.

How to Hang a Picture Properly

Hanging a picture may seem like the simplest of all home improvement projects. While it is quite easy, there are factors like wall type and object weight that you need to consider before hammering away. If you’re a beginner or if you’ve hung pictures before but always done some in a hit or miss kind of manner, these tips will come in useful.

The first thing you need to do is purchase the right fasteners for your picture and your walls. The most common fasteners for hanging things are picture nails and hooks. While these are the most common type of fastener, they are not the most appropriate or effective ones to use in all cases.

If you are going to hang anything on a concrete, stucco or brick wall, then you should not try to use a regular nail. A concrete screw will securely anchor your object and will prevent you from chipping the wall’s surface. If you use a nail in a concrete or stucco surface, you can end up removing chunks of the wall around the nail when hammering.

If your object is heavy, then you might want to insert a plastic anchor or molly bolt-for fastening into the hole to ensure that there is no damage to your wall. Make sure that you are using the right type of fastener for your wall surface.

Once you’ve figured out the type of wall surface and the most appropriate fastener to use, you will need to decide on placement.

The first thing you want to decide is how high you want to hang the object. The basic rule of thumb is to hang pictures so that the center of the picture is at eye level. Have someone hold a tape measure against the wall and then stand back and see what number is at your eye level – that’s where the center of your picture should be.

Once you decide on the height on the wall, you need to measure the picture itself to determine the mounting height. You will then measure from the bottom of the picture to the highest point of the hanging wire. You can then figure out the hanging height by subtracting half of the picture’s height and adding the difference of the eye-height level you measured before.

Your measuring isn’t done yet though. You want to take that figure and measure that distance on the wall so you can make a mark where the bottom of the hook will hit. After you have that vertical mark, you want to measure horizontally to ensure that your picture is in the center of the space. Next you will mark where the vertical and horizontal lines cross.

Holding the faster in place, you will nail or screw the fastener into the wall. After the nail or screw is in place, you want to carefully hang the object on the wall. Make sure you are careful not to mark or scrape the wall with the frame.

Once the picture is on the hook, you should step back to see whether it is level. You can shift the picture to either the left or the right to adjust the level.

If you find (after hanging) that the picture is either too low or too high, you can adjust the wire on the back of the picture rather than making a new hole.

If you are planning on hanging multiple pictures and/or objects on one wall, then you want to plan out your measurements very carefully. Start by holding up your pictures or laying them on the floor in the pattern you want. Measure the wall space and measure each picture to ensure that you have enough space. You want to make the vertical and horizontal marks for each picture rather than just guessing. It is often easier to offset the pictures when you estimate. If you do want all of the pictures even, then you need to use a level and be really exact in your measurements. A laser level can be useful in these types of situations.

Don’t be intimidated with all of these steps if this is your first time hanging a picture. Taking your time and doing all the prep work outlined above will ensure that your picture is centered, level, and really adds character to your space.

Become the ‘Go To’ Expert in Your Industry

One of the easiest ways to drive prospective clients and customers to your business is to become the expert in your field. The term Expert carries credibility and prestige that can open many doors for you, and, oddly enough, the term is relatively easy to acquire. This simple three step process can help you quickly and easily set yourself up as the expert in your field.

Step 1: Determine Your Niche

Instead of trying to be everything to everybody, narrow down your focus to the things that you are really, really good at. A friend of mine set himself up as an expert at leadership training for water treatment facilities. When he told me what he was doing, I asked, “Is there any money in that?” He smiled and said, “Every city’s got one, and I’m the only leadership expert in this field in the country.” He was frequently quoted in trade journals and asked to speak at their conventions. Find your niche, and you’ll eliminate your competition.

Step 2: Write about Your Area of Expertise

After you determine your niche, begin to write articles about your area of expertise. Every single day, tens of thousands of editors, web masters, and newsletter publishers are looking doggedly for unique and information-packed articles. If you can write articles that teach readers about your industry, you will find numerous places that will quickly publish your article.

I spent ten years as a trainer before someone, out of desperation, asked me to write an article for her trade journal. A few months later, another editor saw the article and asked if she could reprint it. Before long, I began to get inquiries from companies in that industry, and a snowball effect began to occur. The more business I did in the industry, the more of an expert I became. I followed with other articles, and within a short period of time, I became a recognized expert in an industry that I had never received any formal education in.

Write a few articles, and you can become a recognized expert in any field.

Step 3: Speak as Often as You Can

When your articles begin to get published, you’ll start to receive requests to speak more often.

95% of the population has some type of nervousness about public speaking. So when you stand up and say what you want to say, the way you want to say it, you are doing what 95% of the population wish they could do. When you speak about your industry, you set yourself up as the expert on that topic. You gain instant credibility.

If you get nervous when you speak in front of a group, attend a public speaking class. It will be the best investment of your life, because the more confident you present your ideas, the more competent you will appear in front of a group.

Follow these three simple steps and you will become the recognized expert in your specific niche.

What We Must Know Vis-a-vis Online Sports Results Laying

Bind together man’s topmost pursuits and you’ll display something called a sportsbook betting site. Seriously, what could be more original. If you imagine a party of men cheering on any given home club, and often wagers will be established tied in to the bluster. Aiming to catch a bit of the action, onlookers usually seek to figure who is the likeliest to prevail the forthcoming fight. This all comes to be a warmhearted fight termed sportsbook betting site.

Win big at all the top sports book wagering games, online here.

True, it may well appear to be overpowering but in fact sportsbook betting is actually only for fun and to tie up with your fellow sports addicts. Here, you can wager a any negligible budget of loot and all the same have a excellent time. Here are a select number of basics to get you going sportsbook betting.

To wager, I would advise you search out a sportsbook betting site, i.e. a setup which tenders sportsbook betting site. In the U.S., we have four states where you can do sportsbook betting lawfully, but illegally you can do it just about anywhere as long as you determine a bookie AND you happen to be a legal adult. Included in the track-and-field events you’ll be able to bet on are pro including, of course, college football plus basketball, professional baseball, professional hockey, including, of course, betting on. Patrons will be able to bet on the complete tally of a game or fight, at which point a given party will go under, and even if a coin toss in a game or fight will come down either heads or tails.

The bookie outfit place their trust mere figures to aid you guess which club you feel is most likely is the likeliest to prevail. Primarily, there’s spread, that’s advantage in points allocated to a losing party that is assumed to be beaten by a specific number points. Obviously, this is the odds maker’s practice of making balanced lays possible for a sports book. For a practical example a client could choose to risk money on a club that is assumed to be beaten and and all the same make money on the wager as long as the party is defeated by a specific number of points.

Why not have a shot at it and enjoy the fun while you’re at it. Simply be sure that you won’t get overpowered and drain your total retirement pension on a conceit. Because else you’ll likely find yourself full of lament for life.

Keeping Meetings On Track

We all have been in meetings with certain people who get our blood pressure to rise or just make us feel what a waste of time. Here are some of those people and hints on how you can maintain keep the meeting on track without coming across as a dictator or inept leader.

Non-Stop Nora.
Nora often begins on the agenda item, but then gets sidetracked on some other topic and is off and running. You think there is no really good way to tell her she’s off base and wasting everyone’s time without embarrassing her. There is “no really good way” unless you have an agenda. With an agenda it’ simple. You say:

“Nora, that’s a good point you’re making, but right now we’re discussing agenda point two. I see that Joe wants to make a comment. Or, “That really deals with agenda item four. Can you hold that thought and we’ll get back to you.” You’ve been frank but you haven’t zapped anyone publicly.

Silent Sam.

On the opposite side is Sam, who is present because he can make a valuable contribution. It’s just that he doesn’t talk either because he’s shy, frightened or intimidated. Be very careful how you draw him out. Avoid putting him on the spot with a direct question. as: “What do you think, Sam?” You’re much wiser to phrase it as:

“Sam, as a department head, you’ve had experience with this. What suggestions can you make? Would you like to make them now or perhaps think about it?” This technique lets Sam make the decision on whether or not he wishes to talk and when. The “Sams” of the world may need some extra effort but it’s vitally important that contribute to decisions that can have an impact on departmental or team performance.

Obstinate Ollie.

Ollie is a compulsive arguer. If someone suggests “eight” he will counter with “No, I believe it should be 12.” Don’t take it personally. Perhaps, he just likes to be a devil’s advocate. Let Ollie have his say, but then ask for the group’s opinion. Someone usually will respond and get the meeting back on track. As leader, try not to get into the fray, but let the group handle the situation.
